Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E.Mr.Javidan Huseynov met with Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Shamsi, deputy director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – Sharjah Office.

Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E.Mr.Javidan Huseynov met with Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Shamsi, deputy director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – Sharjah Office.

A.Shamsi welcomed Consul General and congratulated him on his appointment and wished him every success during his tenure. A.Shamsi noted the existence of cooperation between the two countries in various spheres and expressed confidence in further development of this cooperation through the joint efforts.

During the meeting A.Shamsi, referring to the flow of tourists from UAE to Azerbaijan in recent years, spoke about the hospitality of the Azerbaijani people, the favorable climate of the country and the conditions created for the convenience of tourists, as well as the attention and care towards the UAE citizens. Also A.Shamsi spoke about the steps taken to simplify visa regime and  expressed his deep gratitude to the leadership of the country.

J.Huseynov noted that the issue of rendering necessary service and care to all tourists visiting Azerbaijan, especially from Arab countries, is in the center of attention of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E.Mr.Ilham Aliyev.

At the meeting, J.Huseynov touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and that the ongoing military aggression and occupation of Armenia against Azerbaijan remains a major threat to regional peace and security. He also informed about illegal economic activity in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.  J.Huseynov presented to A.Shamsi the book reflecting the Khojaly genocide committed by the armed forces of Armenia against the peaceful population and informed that 5379 inhabitants of the city were deported, 613 people, including 63 children, 106 women brutally murdered.

In his turn A.Shamsi stated that the UAE recognizes the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and always demonstrates support during the adoption of various documents within the framework of international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He said that the products and goods obtained as a result of illegal economic activity in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan are not allowed to import to UAE, and he underlined that this position will continue.

The sides also discussed issues of mutual interest.
